With its base of fertile volcanic soil, Shrimp King Active Soil actively promotes the health and growth of your shrimp. It provides an optimal nutrient supply while acting as a bio-filter to keep your water clear and healthy. The substrate creates soft, slightly acidic water which is ideal for keeping and breeding shrimp, especially popular species such as Crystal Red, Red Bee, Tiger Bees or Shadow Shrimp.
As a natural ion exchanger, the soil works to lower and stabilize the pH value to a slightly acidic range of approx. 6.0 - 6.5. It effectively reduces the carbonate hardness of the water to around 0 - 2 °d KH, depending on your source water. This softens the water and promotes an environment that is very close to the natural habitat of these particular shrimp species. In addition, the substrate is a natural source of valuable humic and fulvic acids without coloring the water.
