Glossostigma elatinoides
Glossostigma elatinoides is a popular plant for Japanese-inspired aquariums. This plant originates from New Zealand and is one of the smallest aquarium plants with a height of only 2-3 cm, which makes it ideal as a ground cover for the foreground.
Glossostigma elatinoides is known for its care intensity and need for light. It tends to grow upwards if the light is too low, which is why it should not be placed in the shade of larger plants. To promote rapid coalescence, the plant should be planted in small portions (approx. 1/8 pot) a few centimeters apart.
An additional supply of CO2 and soft water will promote growth considerably and help to keep the plant healthy and vigorous. Glossostigma elatinoides is a demanding but extremely rewarding plant that will give any aquarium an elegant and neat aesthetic.
