Description
Salvinia auriculata is a floating fern that grows quickly when provided with sufficient nutrients and light. Light-colored leaves are a sign that the plant is lacking micronutrients. Can easily take the light away from the bottom plants in the aquarium although the individual plant is only 1-3 cm tall. The Salvinia species have water-repellent hairs on the leaves and can contribute to algae control by casting shade on parts of the aquarium and consuming nutrients in the water. Under optimal growing conditions, the plant grows very large. A decorative plant for open aquaria.
