Rotala rotundifolia
The Latin name means "round-leaved plant''. However, this only applies to the marsh form, which has circular leaves. Rotala rotundifolia from Southeast Asia has long, thin leaves (2-3 cm wide) and 15-30 cm long stems. In the aquarium, Rotala rotundifolia forms elongated, thin leaves. In contrast to other Rotala species, it is relatively undemanding, although it needs a lot of light to form red leaves. It develops side shoots very readily and thus a dense, bushy form. This makes it difficult for light to reach the lower leaves and the plant has to be pruned frequently. Also known as Rotala indica.
