Description
Hemianthus callitrichoides is one of the smallest aquarium plants in the world, with its millimeter-small round leaves creeping over the substrate. When planted in small bundles a few centimeters apart, it spreads quickly and forms a continuous carpet at the bottom of the aquarium. Hemianthus callitrichoides is an attractive foreground plant that only grows a few centimetres high and can be cultivated well in smaller, well-lit aquaria. Small bubbles/beads often form at the tips of the plants, making this ground cover look very lively. If you do not have the optimum conditions required for HCC, you can use Micranthemum 'Monte Carlo', which has much lower growth requirements. The carpet must be cut at short intervals, otherwise the plants will shade the lower parts and other plants will be damaged. It must be planted in small portions a few centimeters apart, after which it spreads quickly and forms a beautiful, coherent carpet on the bottom of the aquarium.it was found in Cuba, west of Havana.
