Description
Araguaia is a river system in Brazil under whose name this plant became known. However, there are many indications that the plant is actually a Hygrophila lancea from Japan and Hong Kong. The plant has a compact habit with dense leaves, branches readily and grows to a height of 10-20 cm. The bushy shape is maintained by pruning the stems. The red-brown to red-violet color is enhanced by good growing conditions. The growth rate of 'Araguaia' is moderate for a Hygrophila.
