Description
This Hydrocotyle is referred to as 'Japan' in various plant forums. It is probably a variant of Hydrocotyle tripartita from Australia. This variant is characterized by its fast, compact growth and small, deep green leaves on horizontal stems. The plant forms a carpet and grows to a height of only 5-10 cm. The compact growth can be promoted by manually pressing down the plant carpet when maintaining the aquarium (mechanical retardation). Good light conditions promote carpet formation and compact growth.
